Request Types and Settings

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This page is the settings screen where you decide for which types Mira accepts operational requests from guests. If a type is not turned on here, Mira creates no request for it. This setting is a precondition for the Guest Requests board to work: if no type is enabled, Mira does not drop cards onto the board automatically.

This setting is the same on the Basic and Pro plans; there is no plan-based limit.

What is on the screen#

Click the Guest Requests tab in the left menu, then choose Request Types from the two boxes at the top of the page (the other is Board). From top to bottom, the page contains:

  1. Two tab boxes (Board, Request Types).
  2. A small GUEST REQUESTS label, the Request Types title and the description "Choose which guest requests the AI accepts for (your business name), and which department each one routes to automatically."
  3. An amber information box: The AI only creates requests for types you enable here. Its text: "If a type is off and a guest asks about it, the AI says "there's no verified information about this right now" and does not create a request — the AI never invents a service your business doesn't actually offer."
  4. A three-column list: Request Type, Enabled, Auto Department. There are six rows, one for each type.
  5. A Save button at the bottom right.

On narrow screens (phone) the column headers are hidden and each type is stacked in its own box; the fields are the same.

Step by step: Setting up request types#

Example: you run a 30-room hotel. You have a front desk, housekeeping and a maintenance team, and no room service.

  1. Open Guest Requests → Request Types.
  2. In each row, look at the type's name and the description under it. Tick Enabled for every type you want Mira to accept. For example Housekeeping, Maintenance, Guest Services.
  3. If you do not offer room service, leave Food & Beverage unticked.
  4. If you wish, choose a department from the Auto Department list for each type (see the note below).
  5. Press Save. The page reloads and Saved ✓ appears at the top.

The form saves all six types in one go. A type you have unticked is saved as off.

Field by field#

Field What it does Example / Note
Request Type One of six fixed types. The name and short description are informational and cannot be edited. See the table below.
Enabled Decides whether Mira may open requests of this type. Default: off.
Auto Department Marks which department this type belongs to. Default: — Unassigned (assign manually) —.

Example setups#

Type 30-room hotel (no room service) 12-tent camp
Housekeeping Enabled Enabled
Maintenance Enabled Enabled
Guest Services Enabled Off
Food & Beverage Off Off
Concierge Enabled Off
Emergency Enabled Off

In the camp example the team is small, so only towel/cleaning and electricity/water fault requests are left to Mira; for other topics the guest is directed to the contact options. In the hotel example, Food & Beverage is off because there is no room service.

The six request types#

Type Description (the text on screen)
Housekeeping Towels, pillows, linens, cleaning...
Maintenance AC, TV, outlet, hot water issues...
Guest Services Wake-up call, late checkout, extra towels/bed...
Food & Beverage Room service, minibar restock...
Concierge Restaurant/tour recommendations, calling a taxi...
Emergency Health, security, fire — urgent notices.

Auto Department options#

The list has these options: — Unassigned (assign manually) —, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Front Desk, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Concierge, Management.

How Mira uses these settings#

When a guest writes a message, Mira first evaluates it against accommodation policies, facilities and extra services. If none of them covers the message, and the message fits a type in the fixed phrase list (for example "air conditioning", "towel", "wake up call"), this question is asked:

Is the type Enabled?

  • Yes: Mira asks the guest "I can forward your request (room) to the Type name department. Shall I go ahead?" If the guest confirms, a card is created on the board. Mira does this only for a guest whose room is known (room QR/link, or a confirmed booking covering today with a unit assigned); otherwise she directs the guest to reception. For the step-by-step flow, see Guest Requests. The department name in the sentence is the name of the type; your Auto Department choice does not appear in the message.
  • No (off or never set): Mira does not open a request. She gives the guest an answer along the lines of "For the most accurate and up-to-date information, you can reach our team directly" and shows the contact options defined for your business (phone, WhatsApp, email). No request is saved.

This rule stops the AI from behaving as if it accepted a service that does not exist. For example, if your hotel has no room service, leave Food & Beverage off: to a guest who says "I'd like room service", Mira makes no promise and shows the contact options.

Which phrases count for which type is fixed in the system and cannot be changed by the business; for a sample list, see the section "Which phrases Mira treats as requests" on the Guest Requests page.

What happens next#

  • Changing the setting does not affect cards that already exist; it applies only to future requests.
  • When you turn a type off, staff can still log cards of that type by hand: the + New Request form on the board does not check this setting.
  • The type names Mira writes to the guest appear in the guest's language (Turkish, English, German, Russian), while the names on this page appear in your panel language. The panel language and the language Mira uses with guests are separate settings.

Tips and common mistakes#

  • Save once first. When the page opens for the first time, all types are off. If you use the system without setting anything, Mira opens no requests.
  • Leave the type of a service you do not offer turned off. The guest is not given a false promise.
  • A small business does not have to turn on every type. For example, in a 12-tent camp, enabling only Housekeeping (towels, cleaning) and Maintenance (electricity, water) may be enough.
  • Be careful when turning on Emergency. New requests of this type create a bell notification and an email to people who turned on Important guest requests, but this type still gives the guest the impression that "your request has been forwarded" while nobody may be watching the board at that moment. Separately tell guests to call the front desk in emergencies.
  • If a guest gets a "no information on this" answer, check whether the relevant type is Enabled.
  • The department choice does not assign. Assign cards by hand from the board.
  • Press Save after every change. The checkboxes take effect only with Save; if you leave the page, the ticks are lost.
